Carpy, on the question of re-stocking the pool what species of fish would you like to see to go into the pool?

Good question Andrew , I'm not sure the pool needs fish added. Its gone through a lot over the past 12 months. New Island, The dreadging, and all the work on the Island. It takes time to stablelize. But i'm open to suggestions.

Carpy I do agree with you that the pool have gone through a lot in the last 7/8months actully but I been hearing a lot of criticism about the how was the island was built and the dreading as well. Also I have been hearing criticism about too many mid weeks matches where lot of baits is thrown in the water. I do not see a problem there but others might do. Personally I don't think we need to stock anymore fish in the pool (well maybe a few pike , Only joking ;D)

ok 7/8 months And i have not hearing any criticism about the pool. But i dont get out much. You will have to bring you mates to the meeting and voices thier views. The new island was built to dispose off the silt from the dredging, you cant just dump it on the land. Anyway the meeting is to do with re-stocking the pool. maybe a few pike. ;D

Yes I know you can't dump the slit in the land, but I am not criticism about it and I was telling you mate what I have heard about it. Most of the people I have been talking are the people who either lived by the pool or anglers passing by who have been criticism about it and these are not my mates I am not here on the website a making any accusation to anyone I was merly pointing out in my view what Im have heard it is obvious there is a lot of scaremomgering about There are so many things which the pool can off formed! but personally I don't think the pool need to have any more fish.[/u] Ok may be a few pike will do ;D ;D

You seem very touchy at the moment bruv! you going through the change? Do you have any cormorant problems on the pool? if not it would certainly make for a better balanced fishery to have the correct ratio of predators to prey fish.Although I am by no means an expert I did do a fisheries management course with the IFM so if I can be of any help just ask. Interefering with a fishery by stocking or removing of varrying amounts of fish, types of fish ,species of fish is an area a lot of clubs get wrong. The average angler thinks far to often that just chucking more fish in or removing all predators will improve catchs. It often doesnt in fact often if done wrong it ruins fisherie :os Any of you Redditch boys who remember Hewel Grange in the mid 70's shouldnt need reminding of this........... Slightly off subject but no one really seems to know if there are any pike left in the pool or not! thought knowing something as basic as this would possibley be more sensible than just automaticly sticking fish in? Is there a problem with the catchs on the pool recently therefore the EGM? Not being a member it aint really any of my buisness I suppose! just interested really!

I cant believe you havnt tried allready Andrew. Not only is it good to know what you have in the water but if they are never fished for there could be a good one.Pike thrive on neglect.Never see any sign of pike or the guys in matchs ever have them grabbing small roach etc? Never catch any marked fish? Wouldnt matter if you blanked a few times.Do you think me and Rob havnt blanked many times whilst looking for the big ones.

Yes Budgie but I would look silly from the anothers anglers who fish there. But using the one rod rule on our water well it will take me a long time to find any.(if there any left)

He who dares wins Rodders! He who dares wins! Also you could always aproach the comitee for permission to use more rods whilst carrying out your "Pike stock survey"! after all the information would benifit everyone.

Go for it Andrew. A couple of years ago thier was a large Pike that used to bask around peg 1 & 2 very big. many of the members seen it. a few years back, 20 year,s . Norman hooked one fishing at night with me. on floating bread   it took me 3 or 4 trys to get it into the small landing net, at the time we did not know it was a Pike, anyway in the net, the aluminium pole could not take the strain and bent all over the place. Any way the Pike was weighted by the baillif then it was 20lb We took pictures with the pike, with Norman and with me. The only pictures Norman has today are of the Pike with me on it. ;D You might be right Budgie thier could be some big Pike in the pool just waiting for Andrew to catch them.

Thats right i fished the lodge pool many years ago to. before the brick wall was thought of. It was stuffed with pike and big perch. I think it would be a good idea to check out the predator's first before interducing new stock. i hear the tench are surfacing again, thats good news.
