Bit late with this Andy
But no skip had been organized so where was all the wood going to go? "not in my van thats for sure"
We the committee fell foul of not looking at the match fixture's when setting the date as it was the "His & Hers contest, starting with a 12 O' clock draw.
Allied to all this, Bovi was on holiday in Spain, and Malc and Andy decide to go camping for the weekend, three out of the four officer's not present.
Three good reasons to call it off "I think" as to gather it all up into one spot on the island would have done all the hard work for the nice youngster's we have around, and we might as well have put a notice on it saying "Here's a bonfire we've built for you, please set fire to it"
As I was the one who rang "Padgie" up to see if we had a skip or not and then posted on the site "The Tidy Up" was off, then the answer to your question I can only say "IT WAS ME"
Is it part and parcel of my job to do this I ask? I cannot make people come on the site to find out information, and I did not put myself out to go and put a notice on the board in the club, "but at least I did do something!"
No offense bud but I've been part and parcel of this committee for over seven years and would like to draw your attention to one or two facts
1) We did a lot of work getting four pumps set up on the man made island "We have one running" we discussed getting a second up and running some 8 or 9 weeks ago
and decided at that meeting, if we could not get it done in 2 or 3 weeks we would look at getting someone in who could get it done for us a.s.a.p. "Have we?" NO!
2) The members decided at the E.G.M. "not the committee" to stock the pool with new fish in September/October, 6-8 inch fish are not this years fry and to me the breeders know if they have the fish in stock to supply us. We need to apply for and obtain the relevant certificate for these fish to be transported, this takes time.
We are nearly in August and what has been done? "Jack Schit"
3) At the last meeting 6 jobs came up that needed to be done. I'm sure you are aware of them, but I'll list them none the less.
1: Dead wood to be cleared and disposed of on the island.
2: Holes in the far bank to be filled.
3: Key's to be cut for the lock up.
4: Strimming along the far bank to be done.
5: Supermarket trolly's to be removed from the pool.

6: Names need to be changed on the building society account.
"I know to one of the 6 that has been done so far" in the short time left till the next meeting we will see how many more get done.
Perhaps not being on the committee all that long you are sitting on the fence and "Watching and Learning" from a distance "Not a bad way to go to get your footing" but I ain't like that Andy, I don't sit on the fence and if I feel a member or the committee has a justifiable idea or complaint I will back them all the way down the line, and I have never been, or will be! part of a committee that stands still and does nothing.
I don't need telling as I am well aware that this is why people like or loath me "Such is life" I also know that some people have me as the instigator of the E.G.M. that is their opinion, I'm big enough, old enough, and ugly enough to realize when the bullet's have been loaded for me to fire, and the shyt I was bringing my way. everyone is entitled to their opinion, "I've got no probs with that"
I've got no prob's in putting my record over nearly 7 years as Match Secretary against anyone! "The time and commitment along with the things I've done for this club, the times I have put this club and member's before anyone or anything else "Just ask my Wife!"
But you can not please everyone and if you cannot take that, then committee life is not what you should be part of.
I've given 110% to this club in the past, but that was then, I have never been left in the starting blocks when it came down to doing things and will continue to contribute and pull my weight whilst on the committee
Look, listen and learn "I hope you end up pleased with all that goes on" I still need convincing.
It's now time to get off my soap box and end the sermon
