Hi need a bit of help i have Diawa Carp pole 14 metre paid good money for it. I have used it many times carping but never for other fish or on the canal. i have the carp top two fitted with 14 elastic which is brilliant for carp upto 12lb. I also have 3 more top 3s which i have not elasticated, what would be the best combination for them, so i can use it on canals and pools for say roach .

Dead easy one this or you can really complicate it! I prefer to keep it simple.
First of all decide what size breaking strain hook lengths you think would be suitable for the fishing you will be doing (just the same as you would for running line tactics) Go to your local tackle shop, find a good make of pole elastic and look on the back of the packet. Most if not all will have a chart showing which size of elastic is reccomended for which strength of hook link! Cant get easier than that can you?

Thanks Budgie. I did not know that pole elastic is rated to the hook line strength. You learn something everyday. Hit and miss with my pole elastic size, will change. Budgie PS thanks to to Vickory for asking the question.

I am new to pole fishing so this post was good for me. you want your line bottom to snap before your elastic. i will feel more confident, setting up the pole now.
