I remember that day well mate.We just used my four rods and took turns with the runs! Back then the water in question produced loads of fish in a day (20 odd being quite common) just that they wernt too big.The only biggy was the old 24 that I had caught several times on various methods and baits! I will post a pic.Several years later the pit was flooded by the sea and most of the pike were killed Sad but the drastic thinning down of the pike did result in some good fish eventually being produced.I think the best was a fish I took at 32 but cant be sure. The same fish came out the next season at a lower weight of just over 30 and had a horrendous cut on its back due possibly to an outboard propeller. The real damage was that the captor put it in the press and the water was subsequently hammered.

As promised.I caught this fish 4 trimes over the space of three winters and know of her comming out a further 3 times! a remarkable thing with pike as they dont handle being caught regular very well. All who caught her handled her well and with the minimum of time and fuss on the bank. She became like an old friend to me during that campaign on a very windswept and unfriendly water.Never saw her again after the sea flooded the pit but hope she survived.
