I very rarely pike fish during the summer even with lures.But I normally do some catfishing and eel fishing through the warmer months with some zandering towards the autumn.With one thing and another Ive not been able to this year but was wondering if any of you had had any sucsess?

had some low doubles from lifford plus a twenty so cant complain also a few zander showing,,, thinking of having a go at ipsley any tips on the best swims as i've never fished it before

I last fished Lifford lake, about 35+ years ago.  Used to go thier for the pike, and always hired a punt, they used to have 3 small boats. Caught a few nice pike from Lifford. The good thing in them days too, was the old guy that took you money to fish, also made sure all the fish were unhooked right, because he always did it for you. Many happy days has a kid at Lifford. Is it still run by the council. |

its still run by the council but it looks they've forgot about it,,, no boat hut no jetty's they all got burnt down and i have'nt seen a bailiff in years down there.

Funny that, the last time I went up there was to have an look at the place. To me it was more like an rough area!
Have you ever tried fishing for pike at Edgbaston Reservoir?

It's a shame the councils neglect waters in their control.
They spent millions of pounds on things to get kids off the street.
And ignore using money on projects like lifford lakes, because anything they improve, will probably be trashed very soon after.
Its a shame but thats what would happen.

I have fished Lifford res, for tench though, only time I saw a pike there was one that was ditched on the side :-(
I will have to give it a go... people seem to night fish there... I wouldn't do that on my own.. last summer two bunches of 'youths' desire to have a full on fight on the side of the bank...
