Hi everyone. We had a couple of new members join this season who are in to their predator fishing.
I was wondering how everyones fishing was going on.
Also I remember last Winter that several of the older members were doing quite a bit.Are you still giving it a try?

Well Ive read absolutely sod all from all of the new predator anglers! I apreciate that no Pred Head wants to give away too much about his own particular venues but surely its not going to hur just to let everyone know if your catching or not! Been a very strange season so far with an unusually wet start too it.Due to this mine has been very up and down! Admitedly the poor weather/conditions has stopped me from going quite as much as I normally do but the general trend has been poor pike wise whilst my Zedding has been atrocious!
Despite having been lucky enough to catch my first ever brace of twenties (pics to follow) this season Ive had a very lean time so far to date only 125 fish 16 doubles and the two twenties.I normall manage around 300 per season. I can easily acount for the lack of numbers though as I usually catch the bulk of my smaller fish from my local river and for long periods its been in poor condition. My big fish water has had a lot of colour in it as well this year and this never helps on a Trout Reservoir. And my trips to other pike venues,PAC events, special acsess days have numbered er around erm more or less ZERO!
My master plan of using the boat to give another Kent river a good going this season fell flat when the controlling club decided not to issue winter river tickets! getting a bit to old for all that baillif dodging "guesting" lark these days! Its been fishing quite well from the bank though according to a few others I know.
So come on then anyone been having any luck with the Midlands Zander or Pike? Has the strange weather affected your fishing as well? anything new learned? any PB's,anyone still alive???

here a couple of photos of the jacks i caught i wont post them all as one jack looks like another, i just hope i start to get something a bit bigger. im was hoping to go on the severn this weekend but it looks like its going to be in flood again thanks to the snow. so i know where there is a very very old lake thats as far as i know has never been fished as the owner is a miserable old git and wont let anyone, but i went stalking round it later the other afternoon and does look promising, so may try asking again.........or may just slip in there again through the woods whilst hes away this weekend lol alan

i was using lures to catch these, which ive customised.
ive painted the trebles red and added red or silver tinsel (straight) to them, mounted on the shaft of the hooks with the tinsel sticking out beyond the bend about an inch or so.
it seems to work so far, not sure why but have caught more pike on lure siince doing this. im not saying it works on all lures but certainly has helped on lures ive been struggling with in the past.

im hoping to get a bit of pike fishing in this weekend can anyone recommend somewhere around worcester/shire that i should try.
the severn and surrounding rivers are still way to high to fish sensibly, i was thinking of maybe trying birmingham-worcester canal from blackpole down to diglis foir either pike or more probably perch
has anyone tried this canal stretch? or other suggestions
thanks

Well mine been a hit and miss this year due to work! But the best fish so far for me is this fish This was caught on a half mackerel tail and also had another set of wire trace in the stomach which was fully barbed! The whole trace was removed without any further damaged to the fish.

Welcome to the forum browney.Nice to see another piker.People might be a bit reluctant to name venues on an open forum but hopefully some one who lives in the area will PM you with some sugestions.
Cant help my self as Ive not lived in the Midlands for a long time now. However if you dont get any info contact me and I can sugest the waters I used to fish so you could do a bit of digging around to see how they are fishing now.

Well my Pike season is nearly at an end now (rivers all ready over and I stop at the start of April) Despite getting a brace of 20's (first time ever in all these years!)mine has been one of my worst ever.
The unusually high rainfall before Xmas really played havoc with my river venues and the unsettled weather the same with the still waters.Very few classic high pressure days.Any way enough excuses from me! how has everyone else found it?
