Hi Boilie I got a new pole 4 months ago the Maver Deliverance. It's outstanding features 9-section state-of-the-art technology. At 13m, this pole weighs a featherweight 880g and is supplied at 13m as standard with 2 extra top 3 kits. It features an ultra-stiff action, with put-over joints and telescopic top 2. The Deliverance is rated to a mighty 20 elastic but is equally at home on lighter match elastics. Sounds great for you. And you can pick one up new for about £299

Loads of good poles out thier for the pric you want to pay. i personally love using a pole to catch carp up to 8lb i think its great fun. but of cause ur not going to catch double figure carp on pole as u could risk snaping ur pole or snaping ur elastic. so for all my heavy carp fishing i use carp rods. tight lines p.s theres probably a few ppl who have caught big carp on pole but i just wouldnt risk it.

Vickory it not easy to fish a pole especially if they are 13meters,14meters,15meters and 16meters and using a very small pole float. Well the eyes will take a bit of a strain when trying to see the thing. ;D ;D Your best bet is to start with someone you might know, maybe a friend who you go out with or somebody in a match fishing scene who could help you out and lend you a pole. Once you get the feel of it and how to used it! then you can step up into the bigger range of poles for catching carp and tench. ;D I started with a old 9.5meters semi carbon pole and boy, it was heavy, but now I am into the bigger poles which does weigh lighter that you could hold it all day without any of the pole attachments like pole hooks which fit on the side of the seat box. Best of luck.

Hi,
If i was looking for a pole around that price, i would look no further than the Shimano Technium, what a great pole for the money.
It has had rave reveiws in the angling press and you will see many out on the banks so you can ask people their views.
The pole is £200 so you'll have plenty left to buy top kits etc.
You are right their is so much choice out their it's mind blowing. I had the same problem earlier in the year when i was looking for a carp pole.
Good luck in your final decision.
