Any advice on using bread as bait?
I have used liquidized bread and crumb in my ground bait before with good results but have never had a bite with bread as a hook bait. I have tried flakes and punched bread, but admittedly not recently and, as I have only been fishing properly for a year, was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips!
Thanks guys,
Matthew

I find the bread punch, great on the pole on the lodge pool. you can fish very light on the pole. I used bread on the feeder with bait around it . And had the same results. Bread is a very good fish catcher on the pool.

There are numbered of ways of bread can be used Bread Paste Bread paste is considered rather old hat, but its creamy consistency will attract tench or carp from many water I have fished. For the best paste you need old bread. Give it a good soaking, and squeeze out all the excess water; then knead it thoroughly into a firm paste. It can coloured (use powder dye), and it may be flavored with liquid essences. it fact, all sort of additives can be included. Finely grated cheese used 50/50 with bread paste, a spoonful of marmite, make a fabulous tangy bait; it can be frozen and used at any time. Alternatively, try sausage meat, again used 50/50 with bread paste, with additives like marmite, bovril or a crushed oxo cube kneaded in. BreadflakeThis is a good old fashion breadflake which can be used in large lumps on a size 10 which has the uncanny knack of producing the larger tench and carp. It is so effective, for finicky fish, presented on much smaller hook, as in a small cube of breadcrust. Crust is very effective in the swims that are heavily carpeted in softweed; its inherent buoyancy means that it is always visible. A small piece of crust threaded up the shank of a size 10 hook with a couple of caster or maggots on the bend make an electric cocktail. Oh MrMatthew used the split tin crusty loaf
