Always wanted to catch Grayling 'The Lady of the Stream', anywhere you know where I can fish for her? I live near Coventry, so i know i will have to travel. But its got to be done.
Also, what tackle/setup/bait would you use?
Cheers for any help

Mark, not long that I wanted to catch a Grayling as well but me being a member of several fishing website. One of them is called AnglersNet. They do organizes a few fish ins which a single person will organize for anyone to come down wherever they lived and fish for the whole day. It could be fishing for any species of fish. On the 19th February 2005 I had a chance to do a bit of grayling fishing on the River Icthen down near Southampton. That was one of my best highlight so far fjames.proboards6.com/index.cgi?board=tips&action=display&n=1&thread=259 and scroll down the date of 19th February 2005 and there is a picture as well. I will dig out all the information you might need when I get a chance.

Mark, I too wanted to catch a Grayling and I went to the fish in on the river Itchen in February. Andrew, Budgie and all the others from AN were very helpful and I ended up with a 2lb+ Grayling! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

We had two grayling trips last year via AN. One to the Itchen and one to the Test. Both successful, the Itchen had less but bigger fish and produced a pb for most of us. I'm sure that you'd be made welcome the next time around. Tackle is 12/13 foot float rod, 4lb mono, centrepin if you have one (not important but helps to trot baits) small hooks and maggots. There's some nice chub there too, but they didnt show on the day.

thanks argyll. Been looking at the post on centrepin reels. Might get one, give it a go. For trotting with a float i use my old abu 506. But im up to trying something new.
