I went on the pool this afternoon...
As I get more experience I am paring down the equipment I take which is nice...
I started about 11.30 and had to pack up at 5.30pm... Unlike previous sessions this wasn't very productive at all. I caught one of the little newly stocked carp and lost a biggie at around 4pm but apart from that nothing... As I was packing up there was some movement around all the bait I'd chucked in but I had to be off.
Having been pleased with my efforts over the summer and not having fished the pool for a couple of months I was a bit disappointed and wondering if anyone had any hints for winter - baits and tactics..
Cheers guys

Matthew are you still fishing in the same peg when I saw you last time? If yes but there was a fishing match on Saturday and there was certain lady was fishing there! ;D try moving to another peg!
I do know that you regularly do float fishing but I would go a bit further out than what you normally do like 3 or more rod lenghts out.
Normally you should able to get at least 6lb or 7lb of fish in that area

I am not suggesting you should get your feeder out mate. The average depth is around 4ft mate. So the float tackle will be fine

The latest float only match results aren't encouraging for my Sunday fish, perhaps I should try the River Avon *again*...

Yes Matthew the Avon is the best bet. The Lodge pool is a mainly Carp pool and winter time is never the best time to catch them. But over the last few years they have introduced more silver fish, and fish that could be caught in the winter. 3 or 4 years ago they stocked a load of small chub, and they have never really showed. I think everyone thought they had died. This match produced 2 1lb chub i think that is a positive. All the small mirrors and roach introduced in the summer showed well, straight away but in winter time no go.
