The other night some one (a non angler) was asking me how long I had been fishing for. They were extremely suprised when I told them how long. They could not believe I was still so keen after so many years! When they then asked the above question it made me wonder If we all felt the same or we all had different reasons. What is it that keeps you hooked?

Well for me it is a day out away from your nagging mum! But I still get it from my mobile phone when she is ringing me to see how I am getting on, and you are just the same!
No only joking! That a good question bruv, in fact I don't really know but i suppose it the quest for my first 20lb carp or a 20lb pike or maybe an 100lb of fish at Lodge Pool!

Angling must be a drug. I get the same response from people. I have fished match's in the winter, when i have had to break the ice off the peg first before i could going fishing. And sit their for another 4 hours catching nothing. But i would be their the next week. I still love my angling now more than ever, but i dont do match fishing.

I get an excitement when the float dips or I strike into a good fish, that can't be beat - even if I lose the fish or it turns out to be tiny the first couple of seconds are such a buzz...
I can pretend I like to be outdoors.... I do when its not wet or freezing, but the possibility of a fish keeps me out there when a sensible person would give up due to the weather!

Angling is relaxation time. I love the wife and kids, but you need that few hours a week to do your own thing. And fishing is a sport i have done all my like. and will do till i die. Friends of mine thing im mad going fishing at the weekend, and one work mate hated fishing even thought he had only been ones when he was a kid. he did not catch a fish. I got him to agree to come with me the year for a day. So i'm going to sort out a local hot water, and give him a suprise.
