Ok guys I have managed to finally get my day off fishing - it's been about 6 weeks since I first planned to do this - I have been fishing with my boy a lot recently and I want to go on my own and relax and enjoy myself.
I also have a 17ft float rod and a nearly new Leeds pin waiting to be given an outing ;D
So the choice as I see it is between: River Teme which is quite a small river but I know there are chub in there (and barbel but I think it's too cold for that) and I'm told it's good for grayling...
or
Warwickshire Avon, which is a much wider, slower flowing river and frankly somewhere I have blanked a few times in the past, particularly with a stick float. I don't imagine I will see grayling there either...
or if the weather is absolutely foul I will be going on the pool!
So what do you guys think? Which should I choose?

Get yourself on the River Teme for a Grayling session mate - I know I would love to do it But if the weather foul mate you are better off in the shelter area on the pool and bagging the carp out on the feeder mate as you saw it on Saturday mate! ;D

Either sounds good to me Mathew! I miss the choice of rivers to fish in the Midlands.

Very slippy muddy bank, not much width and a pair of rubbish wellies

Tomorrow, Think it will be River Avon at Perhore... the banks are a bit better there, though the river will be up, so the centrepin might not get much action!

When the Avons up there used to be a great swim a couple of meadows down from the BAA car park at Cleeve Prior. It was a cut out in the bank that formed quite a large eddy in flood conditions (do you remember the one Andrew, you caught your first chub there and an absolutely massive Gonk from it once?) Dont know if its still the same as its many years since I fished it.
Another good flood/high water swim was also strangely enough at Cleeve Prior but this time on the opposite bank directly opposite the car park in the caravan site. As it was part of the old wier (gone long before I fished there) there it will definately still be there but I cant remember how to get to it by car.

Unfortunately the wife had car trouble so I had to fish close to home, so no river, but I had a nice 6 hours or so on the pool. Bit of rain but nothing major. Smaller stockies and bream all around 12 oz - 1 lb were showing and kept me busy. :-)
I will get on the river SOON!

I'd be up for that. Can't be Christmas Day or Boxing Day - I am on call for work (Buggeration!)
