Hello My name is Andrew Burgess and I am 39 years old with a hearing disbility and have lived in Redditch for the last thirty odd years. I am a all round specialist angler who enjoy fishing for Pike, Carp, Tench, Bream & Catfish.
First started fishing at the age of 12 where I used to fish at Hewell Grange. Fishing was not good for me in the summer because I suffer from hayfever! Also used to fished on a occasional places like Tardebigge Canal and Tardebigge Reservoir.
Used to fish on a regular basis at Arrow Valley Lake when it was first open and this how I learnt to do a lot of feeder fishing for carp and bream.
I was also on a look out for new water in the area. Earlswood lakes was very good to me in the early days of the 80's where I used to catch on a regular basis of 40lbs - 80lbs in those days. Also fished at Ragley Hall Lake where I caught my first tench after Twenty years of trying to catch one at Hewell Grange. ;D ;D
Lodge Pool was a name which I kept on hearing all the time and went to have a look but I was not ready for it.
What turn me into specimen fishing was this. After seeing my older brother catching some really large carp and pike. So I thought I must have some of that and I have never looked back. ;D ;D
So where I could start? Well after looking around the name of Tardebigge Reservoir kept comming back to my mind all the time. So I join the what used to be Cadbury's Angling Association. I knew the area well after 10 years of fishing there for pike and few carp and a large head of bream. Sadley the reservoir was going downhill after the Newton Works/Garringtons took over the lease but I manage to fish there. But when they couldn't afford the water rent it was left to the BWB. Fished over the next few years but it was to late the water was going downhill and was harder and harder to catch something really good. So it was time to move on.
I used to enjoy listening and looking at my brother photo of big fish especially in the catfishing looking at there size was truely awesome. My catfishing was only a limited time at Adam Pool which is near Alcester. Again is was time to move on. Started fishing on the River Avon and the Severn catching loads of chub and barbel.
The name of Lodge Pool was also kept cropping up an now again and I went to have a look and I could not belive how much it have change in the last twenty years and so I have decided to join the Lodge Park Angling Assocation and hope to have many years of success to come.
