Ive fished both Avington and Dever Springs. When you are waiting at the gate of Avington there is a stock pond right next to it.The trout in it are the size of carp! Talk about clever marketing!
Sadly though the fighting ability of these huge trout is very dissapointing.Certainly not in proportion to their great size.
That said the thing I love about both of these waters is the way you fish them. The best of the fishing is when they are crystal clear and you can stalk individual fish, targeting them with leaded nymphs.Certainly exciting stuff!
One word of warning though,In the early part of the season Avington can be very coloured making stalking impossible.Check first as it can turn out to be an expensive days stockie bashing if you cant target the bigger fish.
Out of the two I must say that I prefer Dever.Always has a good head of big fish in,always clear and from my experiences much better facilities and service.
