So did anyone give trout a try?

Did any of you give the fly outfit and trout a try this year then? Not been fly fishing myself as much as usual this year as cash has been a bit tight! Had five trips to a local stillwater and two from the bank and three from the boat on a reservoir.

Caught my limit each time except for one trip on the res boat fishing.Very warm and no ripple made it very hard.

Best fish so far is an over wintered rainbow of 4lb 10ozs and a stocked rainbow of 8lb.Not caught a single brown on the fly this season.

I was going to buy one of those cheap Lidle sets to try fly fishing, but they were sold out. Besides I think its the one area of fishing where you definately NEED practical help at the start.

From where I'm sitting your tally is good, but what do I know?

I have the gear, but never really used it. Would love to go trout fishing.
Maybe we can get a trout fish-in.

Remind us in the Spring mate and if enough people are interested I will arange something.Aint no expert fly fisherman but could teach the basics of casting and fly tying.

I'm up for that Budgie. I have all the gear and don't know how to use it.
I did try last year, down in Wales.
Out in my caravan, with my wife.
A lovely stream,looked great, because the water was Cristal clear. small trout, and grayling, every were.
I went down 3 or 4 times a day and never got on a fly.
Caught them bigtime on the maggot on the 3rd day.
A Bit of expert instructions needed.

I live in the heart of Wales. And its not got many angling venues. I have many small streams i have access too, and fish on them a lot.
Many of them have loads of small to medium sized grayling and trout in them. Which are great sport with very light tackle, but using normal baits maggots, meat, bread.
I could love to catch one using my fly tackle. Tryed a few times but no luck.
