Actually, Bigone, it is the internet. These pop-ups have become so annoyingly frequent, that we try to close them as fast as we can so we can access information we want. This will sometimes cause our comps to freeze up or or pause until it catches up to our commands. This will happen more often if you have a slower computer. They just can't handle all the commands as quick as we can give them sometimes. Yes, there are programs you can download or purchase to stop pop ups but sometimkes the cure is worse than the ailment. With a slower comp, this will hinder the speed as well. Everyone has their preferrences of programs and mine is er. I have it on all 6 of my comps (the slow ones as well as the speed freaks). I don't know if I helped any but don't go blaming yourself.

Sorry Bigone and thanks Fiskenmann for your reply. I use Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware. But even if you don't see anything, you may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile of you that will be sold to advertisement companies. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm in trying to see if something snooped into your computer, too www.net-integration.net/spybot/spybotsd.html It's totally free and you can update it when you want. It's a must to have.
