Hi There The first thing I would do is download spybot,It gets rid of 99% of ad and spyware(do the update and run search and destroy). You can get it from:http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/10/17/10-17-21.shtml and its free Also have a look at whats starting up on you pc by going to start then run and typing in msconfig press enter and you should get system config utility have a look at the startup tab and try and identify any programs that should not be running (just use google and type in the various program names) and take the tick out of the box if you come across any that are dodgy, apply and then reeboot. Hope this helps

Sorry later replying Buzzard. Brilliant job i have run the spyware 5 times. because 1 or 2 of the offending popups restart when i go back on the net. the one is 180 search assistant alert. If i clean up with spybot then reboot. look in my computer in propram files, search assistant is thier .exe file can i right click it and delete it safely. The other popup is a messenger one any idears. Top marks anyway computers running much better.

Hi There Glad it helped There is a way of getting the messenger one from popping up, you stop the messenger service from running, depending on your operating system you go in start then to control panel ( if its xp you will need to go into administrative tools ) click on services have a look down the list and one of them is called messenger double click on it and you will get the settings you can hit stop there but you will also need to click on the startup type and change it to disabled to stop it running on startup that should sort you out

Hello
Spybot is a great tool, (For add / spyware) however please ensure you back up your data. Otherwise your up slack ally. Spybot creates a system resore point everytime you use the programme, and if you have not backed up your registry say good bye to all them important files.
Be wise... Catch a Carp instead!
Kind Regards
Andy
