Please don't take offense at my comments but a physical newsletter is really the answer. I go in the clubhouse once a year, to reknew my membership, don't even know where the board is.... but I am unusual - I don't even live on the Lodge Park Estate. As a notification means for members - no offense - but this messageboard can't do that job at the moment. A) Not all club members have a PC, or at least are registered here, B) Basic info such as match dates and club rules aren't posted here, C) I've got the impression that some people involved on the site don't get on so well with the commitee, I would imagine The website here could be used much more effectively to communicate basic info with a copy of a newsletter there as well as updated fixtures and rules. I don't mind having a password protected area, but what is so sensitive that we need to have secret threads??

I would pay a quid more a year for that....

And would you pay extra for the bank clearing charges on top of it?

I did this year.... I woulld imagine two news letters a year wouldn't cost much more than a quid to print and send. I would prefer it online of course but not everyone spends their time sat at a computer...

You are right MrM 2 newsletters would not break the bank and the newsletters would be available on the site plus regular up dates from the committee meeting every month.
The newsletter would be aimed at the general membership who may not have access to a PC or the internet.

There is a dual purpose for a members only area Firstly it would limit debates on club matters which if left open to all would cloud issues. and secondly it would make members feel special thats essential to build loyality and ownership.
If we want to play the numbers game i.e getting loads of people poping in and out without a bye your leave fine but what does that achieve apart maybe impressing one or two sponsors.

I agree with this aim entirely. I think if you have a memebers only area but keep the discusion threads as well we could probably achieve both. I think having lots of chit chat and advice as well is pretty good in keeping the boards somewhere where people will look and check things. The match dates, results etc. board could be expanded to include announcements and open only to verified club members and given its own topic area - That would be great. I imagine the Board Owner can send out announcements to members too so that could be used.
