Hi Frank I have just clocked the New section and that Andy and Budgie are involved but I have got a clue what it's for?
I have already mention what I feel we need to communicate to the members of LPAA and the Juniors and parents.
My view about a wider appeal is that first you have to create an environment that people want to keep visiting give them a reason. Then advertise or promote the site.
I think as a relative new comer I would achive everything older then 3 months but keep it accessible. I think also we need to throw it open to the other viewers for ideas about what they want. Being realistic and looking at other Angling web sites and web sites in general it's very difficult to get massive imput there's just too much choice out there.
The big question is what are we trying to achieve?
I think we are trying to Promote LPAA to the outside world Communicate with it's members and promote Angling throughout the community. Last but not least have a bit of banter and a few laughs along the way.
Whats you view guys ideas on a post please.

Thanks for reminding me Deadred, I think I know what you mean now - the new section you're referring to was the Competition Section?
Actually it was between Carpy, me and Budgie but we never did get off the ground because at the time neither of us was in a position to kit out expensive things for the prizes to have for the competition.
We were trying to get more people to join into the website at the time. But we/or I went the wrong way round. Hopefully that have answer the question.

I don't know Ken so why don't you start suggestion on what can we do to increase our membership in the website and the membership in the fishing club.
It is the question at the end of the day go to the existing members of the fishing club on what they want.

Hi Ken Yes we do need ideas to get more people visiting the site. And anyone with any suggestions please come forward. My suggestion is. All the L.P.A.A members, join the club and want help. Why no mention of the CLUB website on any JOINING information or any of the material handed out. Even on the clubs notice board. I put a link to the site on their, but it was taken off. I bet 50% of the members we have don't know we are here. So come on committee. Mention www.lodgeparkangling.co.ukI am sure over the time, since i started this site, it has attracted many new members to the club.

Yes Carpy, I agree with you but there are things you should know.
Most of the members know their is a website for the fishing club, (as I spread the word about ) but not everyone have got an luxury of a computer!
So I agree with Ken that there must be some sort of communication. But what sort of communication are we looking at?
In my view that there should be some sort of a newsletter or newsletters but this will cost us money as you should know we are not in a position to pay or the running cost of it. Any thought on that?
Carpy as you should beware that I have also been times when I have also replace the notice that there is a LPAA website and again someone is (In my view some sort of vendetta against the fishing website or the fishing club)
Most of my time is spent to commit to the LPAA fishing club as as I can (and I am sure you know it and Ken know this as well). But there are times where I think that I am wasting my time because of the bad attitude of some members!

Is there anyway to auto bookmark threads - I have missed replies because I forgot to bookmark a thread I read and replied to.
The reason I ask is, if I get an email remindind me to look in here, I will return more often. reply more often, then the busier the site is, the more people will hear about it and want to contribute.

Yes MrMatthews there is an auto bookmark and it is under the message box when you either reply to a posting or start a new thread - just got to remember to tick it everytime when you post!
And when to reply it will be automatic be in there when you either reply to your thread or another thread

I was wondering if there was a feature so I could be notoifed when a new thread appears.. if you use quick reply you can't bookmark...

Yes MrMatthew that is correct. All you got to do is to remember to bookmark the new thread. ;D

It's worse than that, if you fast reply on a thread already bookmarked, you lose the bookmark too!

My thoughts are that first and formost the site is here to communicate to club members and also to allow the great web community to glimse inside and for us gaze outward.
To achieve this and to create a forum for Club members to air their views on club matters and to be advised on progress made on any issue. At present there is little communication except for casual conversations when individual members bump into members of the committee.
The main if not only tool of communication is the Notice board in the club. How many people use the club? and how many reader the notices?
So if we agree that's what the site is for I believe the site needs to operate on at least 2 levels one for Club members alone password protected and a general area open to all but people should need to register as a guess to enter.
The is really the first question we need to resolve before we proceed.
At the committee I raised the question promoting the website. The communication to other outside parties that the committee send out is really not the place to promote the site.
Our first target has to be Club members at membership renewal time and I believe that its worth sending out at least 2 newsletters throughout the year these would also be used to promote the site.
Actually layout of the site and format will involve once we have agreed the our purpose.
