Well, since Frank lives a wee bit too far from me, I rather use my wife's SUV (and her gas). LOL!!! But when I go on long fly fishing trips, I rather use mine.

My Fiat Doblo rocks for fishing and musical gear, and for that matter packing the kitchen sink for a holiday!

Bit of a loaded question realy.Like choice of boat it depends what you want it for.
Ive had a couple of Range Rovers and whilst being great for towing trailers/launching boats they are expensive on long journeys even LPG versions.Used to have a set of keys for the gates along the flood banks of the Rother so could drive to many of the furthest swims no matter what the conditions! Also for such a big vehicle not much room for made up rods.
Peugot 405 Diesel Estate ,had one of these for taking customers down to Spain in. Realy good on fuel (600 miles per tank of diesel) a big plus when driving long distances. With a boat on the roof, towing a trailer with myself driving and three passengers plus all the gear for two weeks catting (including a couple of bags of lives!) Mine did just short of 200,000 miles before finaly giving up the ghost!
Had a couple of vans to Bedford/Astra and my mate Rob had an ex Gas Montego van that we did the rounds of Europe in!
Despite having (and still) owned a couple of sports cars (Porcshes) all my cars have been brought with fishing in mind.Only once had to use a hatch back for fishing and it was wank!I like lots of room so I can just chuck the gear in.

In these days (with expensive fuel) the best car has to be a compromise of space, fuel economy and potential to go slightly off-road. Although with more fishing now happening on commercials the need for a full off-roader is less than it used to be, so a 4WD car is probably the best bet. So depending on your wallet you're probably looking at a Subaru Forester or even an Impreza estate, an Audi Allroad Estate or similar. Do I practice what I preach? Nah! ;D My gear gets chucked in a Vauxhall Frontera estate. The 2.5 turbo diesel may burn the heavy oil like it's going out of fashion but it gets me to those out of the way river swims! ;D

I use my self Buzzard's car to go fishing. A Subaru Impreza WRX. We get to the peg in no time. ;D its got loads of space to load the gear and it has 4 wheel drive, so it fits the bill.
