Not a big fan of canon products, but the model you chose the The PowerShot A610's 5.0 Megapixel CCD. It included a DIGIC II processor is like a powerful brain inside your camera, it links all the camera functions and processes shooting information at high speed. The bright 4x optical zoom. Also combines with digital zoom for 16x magnification. I see the A610 also includes a Super Macro and flexible focusing. Focus as close as 10cm from your subject with Super Macro, and you get great shots. great for taking pictures of your fish you have caught. With the Vari angle LCD monitor, taking shots yourself, very easy. So yes mate great choice, and a great price.

Andrew the Powershot A610 Is 5.0 Megapixel which is a very high spec. The A620 is the same camera they set the CCD sensor higher. two get the 7.0 megapixel, which means it will look better on A3 paper Than A4. A much bigger image. same spec, but more money. Image size all important, i use a camera which is only 3.1 megapixels, but the images are fantastic at low resolution 2048x1640 The canon 610 as a resolution of 2592x1944 and the canon 620 3092x1944. Try printing a image off that on your run of the mill printer. £150.00 printer say, Hope you have loads of paper. and money to replace the ink. You could use Photoshop to resize or crop the image, to bring it down to a reasonable size. But you could have got a better picture with a lower resolution camera. If your David Bailey great. Get a camera with a good optical zoom say x4 and ignore the digital zoom. They can change this with out any effort. Just make more money. The Canon Powershot A610 for you will be a great tool fantastic pictures, but you will need to know how to use it right to edit all your pictures to get them to a viewable size. Don't forget one image at 5.0 megapixels, could be a 5 megabit image. You will need a one big hard drive to store a few pictures. Going on now. Get the camara Andrew ;D And show use some great pictures of your pb carp, you are going to catch.

Definately agree about digital zoom.. totally pointless. You will acheive a better picture by using the highest optical zoom on the highest resolution then doing any further 'zooming' by enlarging on your PC. The results will be better because, on digital zoom, any camera shake is magnified as well and the software on your PC will likely offer you some image improving options.
