On a serious note I got the pole elasticated at Alan's tackle in Worcester and they put a 10 elastic. We fished with it yesterday on Lodge Park. It was cold. Brrrrrr. It was both of our first try on the pole and it took a while for us to get the hang of it but we got a three fish... 4lb, 6lb and one that must have been near double figures. We had to give up as the light was failing. Trouble is the guy in the shop put 10 (blue) elastic in the pole and after each fish the elastic was hanging further and further out of the pole. By the time we finished yesterday the connector was freely hanging with about 3 inches of elastic clear of the bush.
Is that normal? Are we using too weak an elastic?

You need to shorten the length of the elastic, catching fish upto 10ld on number 10 elastic makes it stretch someway and if it is a tight fit at the top, it can stick. Try oiling the elastic. Using a 10 elastic is i bit weak i use a 14 on the pool. But you being new to a pole it is ideal. Better the elastic snap than your new pole.

Hi Mr M I'm glad that you and your lad had a good first experience with the pole it can be addictive. Pole fishing is just like rod and reel balanced tackle is vital.
In the summer you will struggle with the carp of any size also 8m will limit you choices in winter time. That said it's ideal for beginners handling the 13m,14.5m and 16m poles takes some getting use too.
I would suggest that you and the lad get loads of practise with it and change the Lacci to a 14 you may need to change the PTFE Bush and possibly the Stonfo connector to accommdate the large Lacci.
If your Lacci keeps hanging from the tip first try lubricating the inside of your top kit with Slip or something similar do not use washing up liquid it will rot the Lacci.
If it continues drooping pull the bung out and take off 2 to 4 inches the length of the Lacci.
