We all have a piece of angling equipment, we would not replace, had for maybe 25 years, but still doing the job. What is your's. Mine is a old Shakespeare Sigma Wand. Mark 1 Lovely link feeder rod. Fishing on hard waters. You can go down to very small hook lengths with it and you will still land big fish. The mk2 is still made, but i will keep the original.

I can't say I have anything 25 years old, but things I have had a fair old time and I wouldn't replace would include the following:
Brilo box - had it about 15 years and it's still going strong.
Original Daiwa Connoisseur floats rods, particularly the 12` and 13` ones. Great for catching chub, roach, skimmers etc. I'm not so fussed about my 13LD/Power, but then I'm not so fussed about carp either!
And while I suppose I will have to replace it soon, my nearly depleted stocks of Racine Torture line in Mist Green. Awesome silver fish hooklength line whether on the wag, stick or tip. I have had some cracking chub over the years on the 1.2lb and 1.7lb.

I still use my Mitchell reels. 300 & match's, and Abu 506 all over 25 years old. Still work brilliant. Did change the bail arm springs on the mitchell's. With Budgie's instructions. Good for another 25 years.

My pre 1980 ABU Ammbasadeur multipliers are much better than the modern version.Seriously doubt that I will ever change my old Leeds centrepin for trotting or my ABU501's for waggler fishing. And despite owning several Shimano baitrunners and accepting their quality I dont think any reel will fver replace the Mitchell 300S as the most versatile specimen reel ever.
Old rods, old lines etc you can keep! but some of the older reels mentioned will never be bettered.

My dad gave me a old ABU501 And a Mitchell 300s, about 10 years ago when here retired from fishing. Plus all the other tackle he had. Which i chucked away moon Wicker creel, glass fiber rods. But last year i put new line on the reels. And i use them both. Excellent reels. And as Budgie said the 501 is brill for trotting. And the 300s is a good all rounder. Thanks Dad.

Most of my tackle is old, but it still does the job i need it for so why change it. Still use a wicker seat box, i was given to me by my dad 20 years ago. Have invested in a few new things has needed.
