I went for barbless hooks as I follow all my fishing clubs rules. In my type of fishing like piking I do have to go for the semi barbless treble hooks as one barb to hold either a livebait or deadbait. I find now days I hear a lot of rumours on the barblees hooks tend to do more damaged than the barb hooks.

Same here Andrew i fish barbless only waters where the condition of the fishes mouths are terrible, and waters where barbless are banned and the mouths are in A1 condition. And also vice-versa
I think barbless hooks cause more damage during the fight, but barbed cause the damage on removal, so it's probably a case for fishery managers to look at the quality/experience of angler before making bans.
For day ticket waters, maybe barbless are better, but If I was confident in the experience of anglers I would go for barbed every time.

Barbed in weedy situations, barbless elsewhere. Unless club rules differant.

Snap nice comments Dace. i like to fish barbless hooks always. But barbed hooks do work better in weedie conditions.

Barbless, as that's what the rules say.
As for which makes and models well that all depends on the size of the carp, and the method and bait I am using but a selection of Kamasan, Drennan and Prestons covers all my options.
