Yes Stu, I have to agree with you that they show in the summer and they are probably a pure.
No haven't been over to Maver Larford for a quite a while now - How it is going lately? Tried my luck for the big carping but at the time couldn't afford the night permits/night season ticket.
That another venue I must have an look again.

The big lake is a bit hit and miss speci wise, but then most speci pools are particularly this time of year if you're sitting out for the lumps. Fish may start showing though with this "warmer" and wetter weather. If you head over there I would suggest a beefed up method feeder type rig with a boilie hookbait that way you may snare a lump bream even if the big carp don't show. However, you can always get a few bites from smaller fish on the speci pool and bites can be had on the feeder or pole at the moment with skimmers making up nice bags.
The match pool is still F1 city, although due to the cold weather they have been coming out on the wag/feeder line rather than on the pole. They tend to back off the pole line in winter but will still feed. Every now and again a bigger carp (up to 10lb) or a tench will put a show in. All on pellet.
Not sure about the new Arena pool - I've never fished that one.
I'm not a huge fan of commercials, having grown up on rivers and canals, but as they go I don't mind Larford and can happily fish the speci pool for mixed bags. It's just a shame there aren't more chub, perch and big roach and rudd in there.

Stu and Mr Matthews - I be happy to do that, we need to pick a right date either midweek or weekend when the weather get warmer or wetter! ;D.
We need to go when there no matches on! which is either in the weeks days or weekend.
Stu, I have been to Larford so many times in the past while piking on the specimen water. Seen some good carp coming out in the winter on the specimen lake and that was the time when Larford was building an dividing bank. But never tried it in the summer for any sort of Fishing!
Right lads thinking caps on! What day is suitable for all of us?

Hi Lads I've had a word with my mate and the Crucians start biting late april so long a it reasonably warm. Also I asked if they were hybrids and he informs me they are not. I didn't think they were but its always good to ask I'm up for a session up there in a few weeks if your around Budgie, let me know a date and I'll book a day off or we can go on a weekend, in the week would be good so we can get the pool to ourselves. Let me know.

I thought I'd add that my mate can get the tickets in advance for us to save messing around on the day.

Well all set to try Abbey Park on Friday.Who else is comming?Went out to Astwood Fishery on Tuesday with Andrew we had 50 or so fish each (er Andrew beat me by two fish!) miserable weather but the crucian hybrids they have there were feeding as well as every thing else really! We managed some nice roach, ide crucian things! common carp ,perch ,rudd ,bream and gudgeon.
Was going to try either my 6m whip or the feeder on Friday, any sugestions?
