Gents - as a newcommer to your site I make my words carefully. You realy should NOT hold any fish with a towel or wool gloves - you will remove the mucus layer which does a lot of harm. Considering the current anti fishing feelings photos like these do not help us.

Julian123, thank you for your concern, it is already being noticed that some of us already do have unhooking mat with us and sometimes it does not appear in the pictures when taken a snapshot for the website.
Unfortunately on that day Buzzard was not really expecting any fish on that day so the towel was suggested by someone else to use the wet towel as did not want to drop the fish on the concrete/wooden decking (which is visible from the picture) can cause far more damaged than the wet towel.
If you do to care to look in the first photo of this thread that Buzzard was on an concrete/wooden decking I feel that I did make a point out to Buzzard in my first reply to this thread but I didn't know at the time (until I have posted my first reply) at the time that Carpy was the one who suggested the idea which in my view that Carpy was technical right there.
I do understand what you are trying to say and it's already being noted to most of our members do have unhooking mat with us when fishing. After Buzzard caught his first pike, he had always taken the unhooking mat with him everytime he go pike/carp fishing!

No worries – I am always a little over protective towards Pike (I am in various conservation societies). Anyhow – thanks for the reply.
